    Job summary

    Main purpose of this position:
    • Hold a position of shift personnel supervision and manage the bakery operations to ensure highest level of efficiency and quality
    • Participate to the production activities and be able to cover all positions of the department
    • Manage daily unforeseen challenges related to the operations
    • Take care of the production planning with his/her superior or with the production planner
     

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    For all the tasks under your responsibility, insure their conformity in order to insure quality of the products and food safety.  Advise QA department of all deviance.
     
    Production Supervisor Tasks: 
    • Manage efficiently the bakery’s operations
    • Maintain the product quality standards and ensure that all employees respect the sanitation procedures
    • Complete and sign off the quality & production forms on a daily basis and ensure their accuracy (CCP forms, SO docs, etc.)
    • Hold daily shift meeting prior to relieve the previous shift
    • Hold a monthly shift meeting and complete the report for the plant manager
    • Be able to work all positions if required by the operations
    • Manage unforeseen challenges related to the operations
    • Participate in the production meetings and any other required plant meetings
    • Use the Internal computer system to submit the work orders to the maintenance team
    • Respect the company policies and rules, and ensure that all employees are following the same policies and rules
    • Fill out Shop orders properly and ensure accuracy
    • Participate in plant testing; ensure required personnel and the raw materials required for completion of these tests, and report results
    • Participate in the elaboration of the quality control program related to production
     
    • Operation management:
      • Analyze the different requests. Propose appropriate changes when needed and complete the follow-up
      • Explain all circumstances related to customer complaints received, and must work on the follow-up until the problem is eliminated at the source
      • Analyze the personnel needs and allocate them according to operational needs
      • Ensure that the work is completed in the required delays and with accuracy
      • Seek continuous improvement of work methods to improve efficiency
     
    • Managing Human Resources:
      • Supervise the work done by employees.
      • Supervise the work done by the team leaders and operators
      • Verify the work schedule for his/her work shift and manage the time for all employees on that shift
      • Approve the pay periods
      • Follow-up on employee absences and lateness
      • Make all requests for agency personnel
      • Meet with employees of his/her work shift to resolve problems related to assiduity, absenteeism, etc. and follow-up with Human Resources
      • Take disciplinary measures with employees of his/her work shift in collaboration with the Human Resources when needed
      • Participate in welcoming and integrating new employees
      • Train new employees
      • Maintain an enjoyable work environment for employees
      • Evaluate the employees on his/her work shift, before and after the probation period
      • Recommend the job continuation for an employee on probation
      • Manage his/her time, as well as employee time efficiently
      • Make sure that work health and safety rules are respected and report any incidents/accidents to the human resources and Plant Manager
     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Interpersonal Skills

    • Must be able to unite and mobilize his/her personnel
    • Have self-control
    • Be able to be part of a team to ensure motivation and collaboration of the personnel
    • Able to analyze and effectively communicate the needs of his/her work section
    Technical Qualifications
    • Computer Skills: Word, Excel, data entry

    • Follow all safety, health, environmental and company rules
    • Understand and follow GMP’s
    • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s and BRC

    Knowledge and General Conditions

    • Be able to write in English
    • Physical effort required:
      • Transport/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
      • Complete repetitive tasks
      • Spend maximum time on the bakery floor
     
    • Concentration efforts:
      • Complete precision tasks
      • Work with cutting tools, must concentrate to avoid injuries
      • Exposure to noisy environment
      • Exposure to Cold and Warm environment
     
    • Work environment:
    • Work in an open area.
    • Exposure to environment containing flour
    • Working under pressure to respect all set deadlines and late orders
    • Work with a semi-autonomous team
     

    Education requirements

    • High school diploma or GED

    Work experience

    • 5 to 10 years of experience as a bakery supervisor or in a related field of work

    Work conditions

    • Location: Vineland plant

    • Work schedule: Fixed schedule or on rotation depending on the plant
    • Work hours : Day, evening, night
     Starting Salary for Production Supervisors: $65,000 base with 5% annual bonus potential
