Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Family-Friendly Friday: Paint A Landscape And Campfire / 8-21-26

Join CU Maurice River, The Barn Studio of Art, and local artists for a relaxing summer evening along the river. Inspired by the beauty of the Maurice River, participants will learn to paint a river landscape through a guided plein-air art experience suitable for all ages and skill levels. No prior painting experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity. After painting, gather around a cozy campfire to enjoy hot dogs, s’mores, and conversation while taking in the sights and sounds of the river at dusk.
This program complements CU Maurice River's Summer Youth Nature Journaling program by encouraging participants to slow down, observe the natural world, and develop a deeper connection to the landscapes around them. Art has long inspired people to notice, appreciate, and celebrate the beauty of nature, fostering a sense of stewardship for the places we cherish. The scenic beauty of the Maurice River is one of the river's Outstandingly Remarkable Values, the qualities that earned its designation as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
Whether you are an experienced artist, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a memorable evening outdoors, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect creativity, community, and conservation.
CU Maurice River will provide easels, stools, and art supplies for all registrants. If you prefer to use your own art supplies, you're welcome to bring them. Please also bring a camp chair for the fire and a roasting stick for cooking over the coals.
