Vineland Historical & Antiquarian Society - “The Paradox of Seabrook Farms” Movie Event at the Landis Theater / 4-12-26
The Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society is thrilled to host an extraordinary movie event on SUNDAY APRIL 12, 2026 at the beautiful and historic Landis Theater.
This documentary tells the story of Seabrook Farms, the biggest industrial vegetable producer in the United States in the 1950’s, where a diverse workforce of post-World War II European refugees, interned Japanese Americans and African-Americans lived and worked. The stories of those laborers, and the vibrant multicultural community it both harbored and exploited, are highlighted in the film.
Dutch Estonian filmmaker Helga Merits will lead the panel discussion.
Writer John Seabrook, grandson of patriarch C.F. Seabrook, will be attending the movie showing, participating in the panel discussion, and signing copies of his book, “The Spinach King.”Images
