Cumberland County College Poetry Slam - May 1, 2019
The Cumberland County College Media Club will present its 6th annual Poetry Slam on Wednesday, May 1, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Guaracini Performing Arts Center, 3322 College Drive.
The Poetry Slam provides a safe environment for the artists to showcase their original works in front of an audience. Those who enjoy poetry, creativity and artistic expression—or those curious about what a poetry slam is all about—are certain to enjoy the evening of performances.
The Poetry Slam was created by Cumberland County College alumnus Daniel Carter and his communications professor, Dr. Renee Post. “Slam poetry opens an outlet to share stories in a creative art form,” said Carter. “Drawing inspiration from hip-hop, it deters but also builds a bridge connecting older and new generations of poets.”
You’ll not want to miss this opportunity to experience local poets display their talent as their spoken words are brought to life. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. Proceeds from donations and concession sales will benefit the Media Communications Scholarship Fund which assists students in furthering their education in the communications field.
