Butterflies on the Bayshore with Steve Glynn
Are you interested in learning more about the variety of butterflies that inhabit the Maurice River Watershed? If so, we invite you to join us on an outing led by North American Butterfly Association Contributing Member and CU Maurice River Naturalist Steve Glynn. Last year participants spotted some 28 different butterfly species and got to see one of the only known stands of naturally occurring American senna (Senna hebecarpa) in Cumberland County.
Join us to hear about the work Steve is doing to catalog and protect butterfly habitat. Steve is currently putting together a driving and walking tour that will include some of his favorite butterfly spotting sites and showcase the area's diversity. The itinerary is dependent on where the butterflies are located at the time. A bit closer to the date we will be able to provide more information on the route and sites.
Originally scheduled for a Saturday, we are now hosting this event on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd. Meet at the CU Maurice River office at 9:00 a.m. The morning will consist of a combination of walking and carpooling. We will finish our day with a Dutch-treat lunch at a local establishment (to be established). Please reserve promptly as spots are limited and tend to go quickly. Keep an eye out for a separate email with further details regarding specifics.
Please use effective insect repellent. Check the weather the morning of the tour to know what conditions to be prepared for. Wear weather appropriate clothing, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Bring water and a snack.WHAT
