Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - What It's Like To Be A Summer Gull / 8-19-25
Join CU Maurice River for What It’s Like to Be a Summer Gull, an engaging birding program led by CU Naturalist Jim Blumenstein. Gulls are often dismissed as noisy beachgoers or parking lot scavengers, but these adaptable birds are far more complex—and perfectly suited to life along our dynamic coastal habitats.
This program invites both new and experienced birders to take a closer look at the behavior, ecology, and identification of the gull species that spend their summers in southern New Jersey. Through thoughtful observation and guided discussion, participants will explore how gulls forage, communicate, raise young, and thrive in human-influenced landscapes. Come sharpen your birding skills and gain a new appreciation for these intelligent and resourceful seabirds.
Those attending may want to bring note-taking supplies. As the talk runs through usual dinner hours, participants are invited to bring a snack to share.Date and Time
