Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Volunteer Workgroup: WheatonArts Gardens / 9-6-25
Saturday
Now that the summer heat is dying down, it's time to do a late garden cleanup!
In their fourth full growing season, the WheatonArts gardens have really taken off! The planting sessions this year by CU Volunteers have been a great benefit to filling in the empty spaces in the gardens. There are fewer unwanted grasses crowding the native flora species that are multiplying readily. The upcoming weeding session will prepare the gardens for an even more successful 2026 growing year - with even fewer weeds.
On September 6, CU Maurice River could use a hand - your hand - in removing the remaining grasses before they set seed. Volunteers will clean up isolated patches where newly-planted native flowers have been getting a slower start and unwanted weeds are flourishing. Please join CU Maurice River to continue giving this pollinator oasis the strong start it needs to become more self-sufficient with each passing season.
Take advantage of this opportunity to share your passion for wildlife gardening and backyard nature watching. No experience is necessary.
Wear clothes that are appropriate for gardening activities. Tools will be provided, but if you have a favorite gardening implement, please bring it. Water will be available, but please bring a reusable bottle to cut down on waste.Date and Time
