Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Family Friendly Friday: Creek Critters / 6-26-26

Get ready to get wet at CU Maurice River's next Family-Friendly Friday, an evening of hands-on stream exploration! Families will uncover the hidden life beneath the water’s surface as they search for creek critters using dip nets and seines. With Watershed Ambassadors joining the fun to share their expertise, participants will investigate local stream habitats to find macroinvertebrates such as aquatic insects, crayfish, and other small organisms that form the foundation of the freshwater food web. Everyone also keep an eye out for wildlife that depends on them, including small fish and American eels, making this a fun and educational outdoor adventure for the whole family.
Wear water shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting wet, and come prepared to wade into the stream. Life jackets are required for all participants; while a limited number are available to borrow, you're encouraged to bring your own if possible.
Be prepared to get wet and dirty! Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, not sandals. Towels or a change of clothes is suggested for the ride home. Use of insect repellent is recommended.
