Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - CU Saturday: Duck Waddle / 2-21-26

The Duck Waddle offers an opportunity to experience one of South Jersey’s signature winter wildlife traditions. This guided caravan-style outing will be led by CU Naturalists Tony Klock and Mary Watkins, who will take participants to several of the region’s most productive hotspots along the Atlantic Flyway for observing ducks. From familiar species to those that are less commonly seen, the morning promises a diverse range of waterfowl sightings. The group will meet at the CU Maurice River office before traveling together to key viewing locations.
The Maurice River Watershed provides exceptional winter habitat for migratory waterfowl and birds of prey, thanks to its extensive wetlands and undisturbed natural character. These ecological values are among the reasons that the rivers were designated by the National Park Service as Wild and Scenic. The Duck Waddle offers participants a chance to appreciate these remarkable resources firsthand while enjoying a morning of shared discovery in the field.
Bring your binoculars or a scope if you have one, as well as snacks and water to stay refreshed during the day. Dress appropriately for the weather; wearing sturdy, waterproof boots is suggested.
