Discover the rich history of Vineland at the upcoming CU Saturday: Siloam Cemetery Tour, a guided walk through one of the city’s most historic sites. Founded in 1864 by Charles K. Landis, the cemetery is not only his final resting place but also includes the graves of many influential figures such as naturalist Mary Treat and suffragist Portia Gage. These individuals helped shape the cultural landscape of the Maurice River region, whose nationally recognized Wild and Scenic River designation honors not only its natural beauty but also the legacy of those who contributed to its vibrant social and historical identity.
Led by Chris Mohan of the Siloam Cemetery Association’s Board of Trustees, the tour will highlight the lives of these notable residents and the cemetery’s unique architectural features.
Be Prepared The tour will be largely outdoors; please dress appropriately for the weather. Bringing sunscreen, snacks, and water is encouraged. |
