Join CU Maurice River for an engaging evening to get up-to-date on the organization’s work protecting and stewarding the Wild and Scenic Maurice River watershed. CU Maurice River will share highlights from recent programs and accomplishments, along with a look ahead at upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.
Following the update, the theme, Celebrating Community Science, will continue with a presentation from The Watershed Institute’s Jian Smith and Erin Stretz on their long-running Stream Watch Program. Since 1992, volunteers have played a vital role in assessing water quality in the Stony Brook–Millstone Watershed by monitoring water chemistry, bacteria levels, and the biological and physical health of local streams. This important data helps identify the impacts of pollution and land use, supports restoration efforts, and strengthens the science behind policies and protections that keep rivers and streams healthy.
