Come to CU Maurice River's Annual Meeting to hear organizational updates, celebrate recent accomplishments, and get a preview of the exciting programs and events ahead. Following the meeting, the Celebrating Community Science series will continue with a presentation by Marc Virgilio, New Jersey State Coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, highlighting the Swamp Pink Initiative.
Learn about the conservation of one of New Jersey's rarest wildflowers, swamp pink (Helonias bullata), a federally threatened species for which New Jersey supports the majority of the world's remaining populations. Marc will share how scientists, landowners, and volunteers work together to monitor and protect this remarkable plant, demonstrating how collaboration and community involvement are helping safeguard our region's unique natural heritage.
