Take a fish survey training session in preparation for 2026 fieldwork as part of the Manumuskin Restoration Project. Participants will learn the standard operating procedures used in the surveys, including safe sampling techniques, fish-handling protocols, and species identification methods. There will be a review on how data are collected and recorded, and there will be practice identifying fish samples in the field. This hands-on training is an excellent opportunity to support active restoration efforts while gaining valuable field experience.
Please note that this training is mandatory for anyone who plans to assist with fish surveying this year. All participants must provide their own kayak or canoe and life jacket.
Be prepared for a day on the water. Dress appropriately for the weather; hats and sunscreen are suggested. All participants are required to provide their own kayaks or canoes and PFDs. Insect repellent is also recommended.
