Join CU Maurice River on Thursday, June 4, at 6:30 pm for the June CU Social. This month the speaker, Matt Pisarski, will highlight the Wild and Scenic Maurice River’s architectural landscape of the late 19th through early 20th Century.
As economic development along the Maurice River was changing the face of the landscape, the local architecture was changing too. Matt will highlight how architectural trends in neighboring Philadelphia, such as the flamboyant Queen Anne style, influenced building patterns of private residences from the Delaware Bay to Millville. He will discuss individual private residences of note and will expound on how their evolving design is a reflection of the development related to the socio-economic change and commerce occurring all along the Maurice River Watershed.
Matt Pisarski, Director of the Cumberland County Department of Planning, Tourism & Community Affairs, has a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Historic Preservation. As the Planning Director and Head of the Department of Planning, Tourism & Community Affairs, Matth has worked extensively with local, state, and federal agencies in historic preservation, land preservation, cultural programming, development review, and community planning.
If you'd like to have dinner at Merighi's, we recommend making a reservation for either before the presentation at 5 pm or afterwards at 8 pm. For reservations please call the restaurant at 856-691-8051.
