Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - 25th Annual Purple Martin Spectacular Cruise - 8-12 to 8-15-26
Join CU Maurice River aboard the Bonanza II and take a sunset ride up the Wild & Scenic Maurice River to witness the yearly migratory aggregation of the purple martins. CU Maurice River has been running this cruise for a quarter century to observe the purple martins gathering along the Maurice River as a staging site for their fall trip to South America. They can be seen by the hundreds of thousands as they return at sunset to their staging spot after spending the day hunting and eating on the wing. They roost in the wetland vegetation on the Maurice River, waiting for the right tailwinds to set off on their 4,000-mile-long journey. This roost in Cumberland County, New Jersey, is widely recognized as the largest pre-migratory staging and roosting site for purple martins on the East Coast. True to the event’s name, this natural phenomenon has undoubtedly been spectacular over the years. |
The Bonanza II is equipped with a fully enclosed, private head. The boat is not ADA-accessible; however, the crew is experienced in helping people of all abilities board. The cruise is approximately 3 hours long and departs rain or shine. All severe weather calls are at the Captain's sole discretion on the day of sailing. |
