Cumberland County College - Author Pam Jenoff
With the start of fall semester classes, Cumberland County College’s “One Book-One College” 2018-19 reading campaign is in full swing as this year’s selection, “The Orphan’s Tale” by Pam Jenoff, is becoming a topic of conversation in many classrooms.
One of the highlights of the One Book-One College program is an on-campus visit by the featured author. The public is invited to meet Pam Jenoff during her presentation and book signing on Wednesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Guaracini Performing Arts Center, 3322 College Drive.
Now in its 15th year, Cumberland’s successful One Book-One College concept was designed to get the campus and the community to connect by discussing relevant themes covered in a single book. A recommended read for Cumberland County College students, each selection has proven popular with the region’s book clubs as well.
In her gripping New York Times bestseller, Jenoff tells a powerful story of friendship, set in a German traveling circus during World War II, which introduces two extraordinary women and their harrowing stories of sacrifice and survival.
Jenoff is the author of several novels, including the international bestseller, “The Kommandant's Girl” which earned her a Quill Award nomination, and “The Lost Girls of Paris” due to be released in February 2019. Jenoff earned a master’s degree in history from Cambridge University in England. She served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon and as a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department in Poland, specializing in Polish-Jewish relations and post-Holocaust issues. She would go on to graduate cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Jenoff worked for several years as a labor and employment attorney in Philadelphia. Currently, she is a clinical professor of law at Rutgers Law School in Camden.
