Appel Farm Arts & Music Center announces ArtsFest2022, which will be held at Appel Farm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10am - 3:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.ArtsFest is a celebration of the center’s many exciting art-making and arts education activities that have happened live and online this past year, and a chance for Appel Farm’s many partners and members of the community to come together to experience fun, hands-on arts workshops, performances, exhibits and more! Participating partners include Creativity CoLaboratory Charter School, Families to College, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the Gloucester and Salem County Teen Arts Festival, and the NJ Teen Arts Festival through the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State. Major funders for this event include The Pascale Sykes Foundation, the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission, and the Salem County Cultural and Heritage Commission. Event sponsors include Volkswagen of Salem County and The New Dodge’s Market. Family-friendly activities like improv games, pixel art self-portraits, plastic egg maraca making, chalk and bubbles, and The Art of Henna will be ongoing through the day and happen across the campus for all to enjoy as they please. There will be free performances from local students and a college table fair for those interested in learning more about arts pursuits in higher education. Attendees can also enjoy a student art exhibit highlighting the talents of area students who participated in the state-wide Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, on view all day in the dining hall. There will be lunch and snack items for sale onsite from 11am - 3pm for those that want to wander and munch, and a chance for all attendees to win door prize giveaways There will also be a series of arts-immersive hour-long workshops, including “Movie in an Hour” and “Printmaking,” intended for participants of all ages looking for shared creative experience; and skill-building teen intensives such as “Website Portfolio Building,” “Mock Audition Jazz Dance,” and “Getting into College for Music.” Registration for these workshops is strongly recommended to ensure your spot. A full schedule of workshops and the link for event registration is available at https://www.appelfarm.org/arts-fest-2022/. Throughout the day, AmeriCorps volunteers will be facilitating a New Jersey Family Day of Service Project called “Color Kindness.” Participants will sort and package crayons to be distributed to the local community in need. Attendees are encouraged to bring their gently used crayons to the festival so they can be part of the distribution to the community. Appel Farm Executive Director Jessica Doheny states: “We are very excited to gather in person and welcome people back to Appel Farm after so many months of virtual work. This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of many talented students, and to find creative connection with families and friends in our community!” Appel Farm continues to build a roster of sponsors and partners to help bring this event and others to our South Jersey community.
