SUMMARY:Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Wetland Flora Surveying / 8-4 and 8-5-26
DESCRIPTION:Get hands-on with vital research and restoration initiatives. Join CU Maurice River's volunteer community science team on the river to have a direct impact on aquatic habitat health!\n\n\n\nThese community science surveys are part of a larger wetland restoration project on the Wild & Scenic Manumuskin River\, funded by Restore America's Estuaries. As part of this effort\, volunteers are helping document how the habitat responds to restoration through photo point monitoring\, avian surveys\, fish monitoring\, and other ecological assessments.\n\n\n\nWetland Flora Survey: this fieldwork involves walking established transects through both treated phragmites and native marsh areas. Surveyors will place random sampling quadrants to document the present of flora species. The goal is to track the long-term response to treatment and to monitor the reemergence of native plants.\n\n\n\nWhile these technical surveys will be led primarily by professionals and project partners\, there are spots available for hardy\, plant-savvy community scientists who are comfortable navigating challenging marsh terrain.
